2004 Grammy update: In what should be a surprise to no one, Sean Paul takes Best Reggae Album, beating out Wayne Wonder, Buju Banton, Burning Spear, and Third World.  This is one of the few Grammys that I can't argue with.  While Dutty Rock might not have been the best reggae release of the year, it was one of the best, and it was more deserving than most past winners.  Also notable is the win for Best Pop Performance By a Duo Or Group With Vocal by No Doubt and Lady Saw's "Underneath It All," following No Doubt's win in 2003 in the same category for their "Hey Baby" with Bounty Killer.

Be sure to check out: The informative documentary Reggae: The Story of Jamaican Music on BRAVO, including interviews with pioneers like Jimmy Cliff, Max Romeo, Sly & Robbie, Burning Spear, Judy Mowatt, Big Youth, Byron Lee, U-Roy, Yellowman, and Cocoa Tea to modern  stars like Elephant Man, Shaggy, Maxi Priest, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Lady Saw, Buju Banton, Luciano, and Capleton.
