| Gutterbreakz (dropthelime.com, 2005) *GUEST REVIEW* Artists like DJ Rupture built their reputation on the strength of live sets and mix tapes. In fact, Rupture's first mix tape was made for friends but eventually became a download success across the web. Drop The Lime is another electronic artist affiliated with Tigerbeat6. Gutterbreakz is his dubstep-heavy mix tape. This sounds like a mix created on a laptop for the Violent Turd imprint. The music is faster and more upbeat than other dubstep mixes. Vocals feature, but are quite low in the mix and are oft drowned out by the effects and strobing bass. The blunted beats featured here are probably a little too electronic for purists, but this remains a fine left-field mix that links electronica, breakcore, jungle, garage, and dubstep. - ragudave |
