| New Heavy (ROIR, 2006)
*GUEST REVIEW*
ROIR release material from both punk and reggae camps as well as other left field music. They release lost classics and pump out new material from the likes of
Twilight Circus, Bill Laswell, and Dub Trio.
Dub Trio are not really a reggae band despite the moniker. Music wise they recall
Bad Brains and Nomeansno with their jazzcore inna dub style. This is an interesting album that should interest Faith No More fans as well as the OAP punks who attend
Ari Up gigs. Mike Patton provides vocals on one track but this is the least typical track. As with most punky dub things don't sound quite right. Perhaps its just played a little too quickly or maybe the dubs need a little space to breathe.
New Heavy is not up to Tubby's standard but sounds better that poorly executed punky reggae.
