| Them (Makafresh, 2007)

REVIEW*
The spring of '07 brings the second FC Apatride Utd album,
Them, eagarly anticipated for a number of reasons!
It was the first album, On the Frontline Menu, that introduced the band to the world scene a year
ago and confirmed the growing opinion that these days good reggae is being played mostly outside Jamaica!
But that's all it was, good reggae! The initial introduction went well with the audience and the album received a fair portion of
attention, but it seemed that these three musicians just couldn't break the barrier of
"good" and step up to the higher level of "brilliant" no matter how hard they pushed.
The fact that they were more interested in the world problems than in the musical part
remains, but that's definitely not as an excuse. Now, a year after, it seems that these guys grew
musically and finally manage to take it "higher," thus musically keeping up with the brilliant lyrics and a fascinating image of
21st century rude boys, tough and determined to fight them all. Now we can hear it both through lyrics and
music, admire it, and enjoy it. Certain tracks may sound offensive to certain people and it made me wonder what's it all
about. Still, I must respect their will to lead rather than follow.
Definitely one of the better reggae releases this year!
