Original Ragga Muffin (1975-77) (Blood & Fire, 1996)

*GUEST REVIEW*
Blood and Fire Records are pretty good at what they do.  Their objective is to release high-quality reggae reissues and to educate all dub fans.  Their specialty is roots reggae, dub, and toasting.  Well, Jah Stitch is a great find for the curious out there.  He is a toaster/chanter/singjay, but don't let that put you off.  Original Ragga Muffin is a very rootsy DJ set recorded in the late '70s.  Cross a relaxed U Roy with vintage Big Youth, and you get the idea.  The tracks were mixed at Tubby's studio, and the quality shines through.  Wait for a warm day, turn off the phone, lock the door, and enjoy one of the dreadfast albums around.
