Panic in Babylon (Narnack, 2006 [orig. released 2004])

*GUEST REVIEW*
Panic in Babylon is the latest in the series of post-Black Ark releases involving Mr. Upsetter. Perry is in MC form, but sadly it's Scratch by numbers. He is in his early seventies now, and his rants just don't have much credibility. He sounds disinterested, is weak of voice and delivers a tepid performance. The backing riddims are non-digital, quite laid-back but are sadly not enhanced by the MCing. Adran Sherwood maintains that recent Perry output is misunderstood and will only be valued 20 years hence. Perhaps he is right, but surely Wolf Eyes, Burial, and John Butcher are more relevant in the 21st century.
