Color Barrier (Makasound, 2005)
*GUEST
REVIEW*
Makasound is a relatively new imprint that seems to be rising up the charts to compete with the likes of Blood & Fire, Pressure Sounds, and Hot Pot. This is the fourteenth release from the Macka stable. It's a collection of tracks recorded by Leroy Brown, loosely based on the
Prayer of Peace album. A couple of tracks are dropped and eight others were slotted in. This is well-produced, heavy roots. It deserves a wide audience for the subtle but
highly effective production. Check out the soulful harmonies and hooks on "Color Barrier" and
"Money Barrier."
