Tribute to Bob Marley (Sunvibe, 2001?)

I don't know anything about the band New Culture other than the fact that they're from Germany (and they play reggae, which goes without saying), and judging from their Tribute to Bob Marley, I likely will continue to know nothing about them for quite a while.  Not that this isn't a bad EP -- it's serviceable pop reggae -- but I have to wonder why it even exists.  Do we really need more remakes of Bob Marley songs, particularly ones as prevalent as "Waiting in Vain," "Is This Love," "Lively Up Yourself," and "Jamming"?  Tribute to Bob Marley sounds like a promotional set for a wedding/party/Bar mitzvah band who plays reggae cover songs (also included amongst the Marley tunes is a cover of Steel Pulse's "Taxi Driver," an odd choice, as it's not exactly the group's best -- or best-known -- song . . . and as the EP's not titled Tribute to Bob Marley and Steel Pulse).  Frankly, New Culture might indeed be just a party band, which would at least explain this innocuous release.  Otherwise, it's a pretty much useless -- although technically competent -- set.
