Original Jamaican Sound System Style: 21 R'n'B Scorchers (EMI)

*GUEST REVIEW*
Sound System Style contains the sort of tunes Fonz wannabes should listen to. They date from the late fifties and were imported and repressed in the home of reggae. The music is strictly R&B rather than ska, rock steady, or reggae. But these tunes were very influential on young listeners who subsequently became producers, performers and label owners. This album varies between cartoon jazz, moody spoken word ditties and heartbreaker vocals. It gives a nice overview of the sort of music that evolved from gospel and blues. There's even a sniff of good old school country on The Wow.
