Reggae Hits Volume 27 (Jet Star, 2000)

You can seemingly always count on Jet Star's Reggae Hits collection for a well-stocked collection of some of the hottest cuts of the year.  Only about half of the tracks on Volume 27 are good, but the ones that are good are very good.   Heading the list are two stellar lovers tunes, Peter Hunnigale's "Believe in Love" and a remake of the Aaron Neville/Linda Ronstadt hit "All My Life" by Marcia Griffiths and the Peter Cetera-sounding D'Ville, along with Junior Kelly's "Can't Get Away" (He also adds the rootsy "Jah Jah Live On.") and Antonio's heartfelt "So Many Signs."  Morgan Heritage contribute their usual solid work on "Blackmans Paradise," while Glen Washington chimes in with the righteous "Give Jah Praise," Judy Mowatt remakes the classic "Thank You Jah," and even the often iffy Lukie D provides the appealing lovers rock track "Want You With Me."  Overall, another notch in Reggae Hits' headboard.
