Well, I have to be honest and admit that I only purchased this album for two reasons. The first is that I saw it on sale for a pound, and the second is that I wanted to get hold of Smiley Culture's "Police Officer". This is basically a compilation of 16 popular or even twee reggae singles from the 1980s. In other words, it would be suited to parties that exclude chin strokers. Production on the tracks is generally quite light, but this makes the album enjoyable even if you wouldn't boast about owning it. "Police Officer" is one of the standout tracks on Reggae Steady Go with ragamuffin-style toasting. Other artists include Macka B, Boris Gardiner, Barry Biggs, Gregory Isaacs, Sophia George, and Cynthia Schloss. An album to make you smile, even if you are slightly embarrassed at owning it. Coming to a charity shop sometime soon.
