Romantic Reggae Volume 4 (Jet Star, 2005)

The fourth installment in this series continues the smooth, relaxing lovers rock sound, but can't help the rather thrown-together feel of it all.  Like previous volumes, the material here is culled largely from Jet Star releases over the past decade -- most of it from the "usual suspects," lovers stalwarts like Beres Hammond, Freddie McGregor, and Peter Hunnigale.  Lovers rock fans will likely be familiar with several tracks on Volume 4 -- I already knew more than half -- especially considering the lovers tendency toward covers (including "Hero," "As," "Danger in Your Eyes," and "Can I Change My Mnid").  Still, with 20 tracks, there's probably something that's new to everyone.  It's all very competent, but there's little here that could be considered classic (although Hammond's "She Loves Me Now" is much loved).  If you're "in the mood," though, this should do the trick.
