| Studio One Scorcher Volume 2 (Soul Jazz, 2006) *GUEST REVIEW* Soul Jazz continue to trawl of the Studio One label with this new release. This one concentrates on another set of instrumentals. Instrumentals in reggae tend to be either jazzy or dubby. Scorcher Volume 2 has a combination of both. However this compilations doesn't quite keep the listeners attention. It really needs some vocals, although killers like "Black Wax" and "Black is Back" rival The Liquidator for sheer balls. Best used for dipping in and out, this compilation is better than most Trojan boxsets but ain't a Soul Jazz classic. - ragudave |
